BRIXIA TIME MACHINE WINS AVICOM’S GOLDEN PRIZE AT F@IMP 2.0 2016

The BRIXIA TIME MACHINE project, created by ARtGlass and Fondazione Brescia Musei in collaboration with Carraro Lab and TELECOM Design, was awarded the Golden Prize of F@IMP 2.0 2016 (International Festival for Audiovisual and Multimedia Heritage) for the best multimedia project in museums, organized by AVICOM, the ICOM international committee for Audiovisual and New Technologies: the “Oscar” for multimedia in museums.

F@IMP 2.0 is the continuation of FIAMP (Festival International de l’Audiovisuel du Multimédia sur le Patrimoine): an event with an international scope aimed at encouraging and enhancing the production and dissemination of innovative audiovisual products and multimedia technologies (websites, interactive programs , mobile applications and creative and interpretative curation elements) promoted or produced by museum and cultural heritage institutions.

BRIXIA TIME MACHINE guides the visitor to the Archaeological Park of Brescia on a real journey through time. By wearing augmented reality glasses it is possible to see the ancient aspect of the archaeological site in transparency and 3D, with integrated and synchronized audio and video guide. The application introduces spherical virtual reconstructions within a wearable viewer for the first time, with a notable immersive effect and contributing to an effective reading of the site.

The awards ceremony was held on November 22nd in Budapest, at the Hungarian National Museum, during the first day of the MUZEUM@DIGIT conference, the international conference on digital cultural heritage which aims to share and discuss perspectives and trends of modern digital museums and I respect the digitization of museum, book and archival works with particular attention to future plans in the field.
