PISA, IN PIAZZA DEI MIRACOLI WEARABLE AUGMENTED REALITY IN WORLD PREMIERE

Historical characters going along tourists, animation and videos emerging from monuments  showing hidden details and unknown stories. Starting from April the 24th 2015, thanks to a project in world première endorsed by  the Municipality of Pisa with Duomo7, the management company of the tourist routes in Pisa, founded by Space SpA, Inera srl and Telnet Systems, and produced by ART Glass®/Gruppo Capitale Cultura (today the only Italian player in this emerging sector) it will be possible to visit Piazza dei Miracoli in a unique and immersive way: a mix of videos and storytelling through wearable videoguides,  to discover a new dimension of art and history.

THE AUGMENTED TOUR OF THE SQUARE

Renting the Artglass at the Info Point created and managed by Duomo7, visitors will be protagonists of a virtual tour through the stories and the secrets of Piazza dei Miracoli. The itinerary includes 13 sceneries across the exteriors of the monuments, through which visitors  are guided in a unique dimension.

The ArtGlass provide animated contents and info in relation to the monument that the visitor is looking at.

Among the visit’s sceneries there are videos, actors wearing original costumes and playing historic protagonists such as Galileo Galilei and the Pisa’s heroine, Kinzica, with  a “time machine” effect. And also a series of spectacular info-graphic“suspended” in the air, illustrating the main monuments especially the famous Tower and its inclination.

The service will be  available soon in five languages: Italian, English, French, German and Spanish.

Another idea is to make the visit interactive and “viral”.  Visitors will have the opportunity to shoot selfies and share instantly them on their social profiles, directly from the glasses. A further step could be bringing the project on a urban dimension, extending the visit with wearable devices to urban and pedestrian itinerares while walking in the City.

In fact, in the project local cultural operators have been protagonists, including the theater company the Canovaccio and in the future researchers of CNR in Pisa will be involved in order to develop additional functionality and services.

“The experience of ARtGlass in Pisa is a great challenge and at the same time a huge opportunity – says Antonio Scuderi, CEO of ARtGlass and Capitale Cultura Group – because for the first time it’s possible to deal with a huge number of tourists and visitors, in an outdoor site which is one of the top destination of cultural tourism. This experience will open new frontiers in the fruition of the historical and artistic heritage creating a new model”.
